About Bikram Sambat
Bikram Sambat (BS) is the official calendar of Nepal. It is a solar calendar based on ancient Hindu traditions and is approximately 56 years and 8.5 months ahead of the Gregorian Calendar (AD).
The new year in Bikram Sambat usually falls in mid-April (Baishakh 1st). It is named after the legendary King Vikramaditya and is widely used for official government work, festivals, and daily life in Nepal.
